Easy Office Recovery has been designed to locate and retrieve any Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook files lost or deleted for whatever reason. The program will scan your selected drives in no time regardless of their size and their level of fragmentation. You can activate the Raw Search option for a deeper scan – it will certainly take longer, but the possibilities of retrieving highly-damaged files are certainly bigger.

The functionality it offers is fairly straightforward. It all starts on the program’s main menu, where you can choose to scan a full drive in search of any Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook file you may have deleted, lost, and even formatted, or to search for a file in particular. The scan process is, actually, double – it comprises a standard scan and a Raw Search. The latter runs at a significantly lower pace, but it may prove useful to locate and recover highly-fragmented files. You can always disable this deeper search, especially when the files you’re looking for have been recently deleted, the drive being scanned hasn’t been formatted, etc.

The files found will be listed on a panel on the left-hand side of the program’s interface, leaving the remaining space as a preview window where you can double-check if the text file, spreadsheet, or presentation on the screen is the one you were looking for. And, regrettably, this is as far as the free trial of Easy Office Recovery will take you. The trial version available for download has a serious limitation that renders all tests useless. Unless you purchase a license and register the program, all you’ll be allowed to do is use the program to locate and preview your lost MS Office files. Detecting a deleted file and showing its contents on a preview window is not guarantee that the program will be capable of recovering it in full. That is why I’ve always found this advertising strategy rather awkward and pretty useless. I find a limitation on the amount of files or on the size of the files you are allowed to recover for free a much more alluring technique.
